Eastvale is one of California's newest cities, incorporated in 2010 in northwestern Riverside County, that grew from dairy pastures into a master-planned suburb in barely two decades. Once dominated by dairy farms run largely by Dutch and Portuguese families, it is now a diverse, high-income logistics hub anchored by massive Amazon and Walmart facilities. Its motto, 'Community, Pride, Prosperity,' reflects a young city still defining its identity.

About Eastvale
History. The name derives from 'East Vale,' listed as a local school district in 1893 by the Riverside County Board of Commissioners. For most of the 20th century the area was predominantly dairy farms and agriculture, part of the Chino Valley dairy belt worked by Dutch and Portuguese families. Suburbanization began in the 1990s as residents from Orange and Los Angeles counties sought more affordable housing, replacing pastures with master-planned neighborhoods. Voters approved incorporation via Measure A with 65.8 percent support, and Eastvale officially became a city on October 1, 2010. The first city council included Ike Bootsma, Jeff DeGrandpre, Kelly Howell, Adam Rush, and Ric Welch, with Adam Rush chosen as the first mayor.
Local economy. A major logistics and warehousing hub in the Inland Empire. The Amazon Fulfillment Center is the top employer with nearly 4,900 workers. The Walmart Distribution Center employs roughly 950 people. The Corona-Norco Unified School District is another leading employer. A largely residential, high-income community with a median household income around $151,615.
Culture and community. Community events include Picnic in the Park, the Holiday Showcase, and the Fall Festival. One of the most ethnically diverse cities in the region, roughly 37 percent Hispanic/Latino, 30 percent Asian, and about 9 percent Black in the 2020 census. Eleanor Roosevelt High School serves the community within the Corona-Norco Unified School District. Notable residents include hockey Olympian Cayla Barnes and NFL player Marcus Williams.
What makes Eastvale distinct. Eastvale transformed from dairy farms to one of Riverside County's fastest-growing cities in roughly two decades. Its population jumped about 30 percent, from 53,668 in 2010 to 69,757 in 2020. Its median household income places it among the highest-earning communities in the nation. Jocelyn Yow became the youngest woman of color to serve as a mayor of a California city while leading Eastvale.
