Euless is a Tarrant County city of about 61,000 in the 'Mid-Cities' zone between Dallas and Fort Worth, with the southwestern edge of DFW International Airport inside its limits. Named for pioneer cotton-gin owner Elisha Adam Euless, it has become one of North Texas's most diverse communities, home to one of the largest Tongan populations outside Tonga and a sizable Nepali-Bhutanese refugee community. That heritage shows up vividly on Friday nights, where Trinity High School's football team performs a Tongan war dance.

About Euless
Also known as. Tree City. one of the DFW 'Mid-Cities'.
History. Settlement began around 1845 when pioneers led by Isham Crowley reached the confluence of Big Bear and Little Bear creeks. A post office named Estill's Station opened in 1857 on land now part of the airport, alongside an early school, church, store, and cotton gin. Namesake Elisha Adam Euless, a Tennessee native, moved to Texas in 1867 and bought 170 acres near today's North Main Street and West Euless Boulevard, running a cotton gin and community center; he later served as county sheriff in 1892 and 1894. American Airlines began relocating operations to the Euless area in 1957, and the aviation-parts maker Menasco Manufacturing was an important early industry. The opening of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, partly within Euless, transformed the city into an airport-adjacent suburb.
Local economy. The Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District is the top employer (about 1,030 employees). Airline catering giant LSG Sky Chefs is a major private employer (about 660 employees), reflecting the DFW Airport economy. The City of Euless itself employs several hundred workers. Big-box retail including Target and Lowe's. Logistics, aviation services, and hospitality driven by the adjacent airport.
Culture and community. Euless has one of the largest concentrations of Tongans outside Tonga, roughly 3,000-4,000 people. A significant Nepali community, many arriving as refugees from Bhutan, adds to the city's diversity. Trinity High School's Trojans football team performs the Tongan Sipi Tau war dance before games, a tradition brought by players of Tongan descent. Trinity won UIL Class 5A Division 1 state football championships in 2005, 2007, and 2009. The annual Arbor Daze festival, launched in 1989, celebrates trees with vendor tents, art, concerts, and a kids' zone on the last weekend of April. Overall demographics are strikingly balanced (roughly 46% White, 20% Hispanic, 16% Black, 15% Asian at the 2020 census).
What makes Euless distinct. The southwestern portion of DFW International Airport, one of the world's busiest airports, actually lies within Euless city limits. A Texas suburb is a global rugby and gridiron pipeline for Tongan athletes, and its high school football pregame ritual is a Polynesian war dance rather than a typical pep rally. Arbor Daze has collected more than 47 awards and recognitions, making it one of the most decorated municipal festivals in Texas. Euless celebrates Nepali and Bhutanese holidays alongside its Tongan and Anglo heritage, an unusually layered cultural mix for a mid-size Texas city.
