Web Design for Inglewood, California

Inglewood is a majority-Black and Latino city in southwestern Los Angeles County that has reinvented itself into the sports and entertainment capital of Southern California. Once home to The Forum and Hollywood Park racetrack, it now anchors SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome, and it will host events for the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 World Cup. Its 'City of Champions' identity runs from Showtime-era Lakers glory through a deep West Coast hip-hop legacy.

AppWT works with Inglewood, CA businesses from Livonia, Michigan, mostly online and travelling as needed.

About Inglewood

Also known as. City of Champions.

History. The area's original inhabitants were the Tongva (Gabrielino) people; Centinela Springs served as a historic water source for Native peoples and early settlers. The Centinela-Inglewood Land Company founded the townsite in 1887 on land tied to Daniel Freeman's Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela. Inglewood incorporated as a city on February 7, 1908. North American Aviation built B-25 bombers in Inglewood during World War II; a 1941 wildcat strike at the plant briefly halted a large share of national fighter-plane output. Hollywood Park Racetrack operated in Inglewood from 1938 until 2013, and its site was redeveloped into the SoFi Stadium / Hollywood Park district. Edward Vincent Jr. became Inglewood's first Black mayor in 1983, part of the city's mid-century demographic and political transformation.

Local economy. SoFi Stadium opened in 2020, hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022, and is slated for Super Bowl LXI in 2027; the surrounding real estate transformation helped push total area property values sharply higher. The Intuit Dome opened in August 2024 as home of the LA Clippers, with owner Steve Ballmer pledging roughly $100 million toward the city including affordable housing. The Kia Forum (opened 1967, designed by Charles Luckman, formerly The Forum) remains a major concert and events venue. NFL Media maintains its headquarters adjacent to SoFi Stadium. The city's modern economy is anchored by its sports, entertainment, and hospitality venues after decades of reliance on Hollywood Park racing.

Culture and community. Inglewood is a landmark of West Coast hip-hop, producing artists such as Mack 10 (of Westside Connection) and drawing shout-outs from Dr. Dre on tracks like 'California Love' and 'The Next Episode.' Contemporary Inglewood artists include newer talents such as 310babii, continuing the city's rap lineage. Market Street was historically a hub of Black-owned commerce; Dulan's Soul Food Kitchen is among the anchor eateries tied to the corridor's soul-food tradition. Current pro teams include the LA Rams and LA Chargers (SoFi Stadium) and the LA Clippers (Intuit Dome). The Lakers and Kings played at The Forum from 1967 to 1999, the core of the 'City of Champions' nickname. Fosters Freeze, founded in Inglewood in 1946 by George Foster, is credited as California's first soft-serve ice cream chain.

What makes Inglewood distinct. Inglewood is slated to host the 2028 Olympic opening ceremony and swimming at SoFi Stadium and basketball at the Intuit Dome. In 2009 Inglewood had the highest share of registered Democrats of any city in California (about 75.6%). Randy's Donuts, the postwar donut-shop landmark, now also operates as a combined donut and Chinese food spot at its Inglewood location. Its 'City of Champions' title predates SoFi Stadium, rooted in the Showtime-era Lakers dynasty at The Forum.

Densely populated, diverse urban city in southwest Los Angeles County, now a hub for major sports and entertainment venues.
