Lehi is a fast-growing Utah County city at the northern edge of Utah Valley that has transformed from a farm-and-flour-mill town into the beating heart of 'Silicon Slopes,' Utah's answer to Silicon Valley. Its population exploded from about 47,000 in 2010 to roughly 76,000 in 2020, driven by tech giants like Adobe, Micron, and Ancestry.com. Yet it still throws the century-old Lehi Round-Up Rodeo every June, blending pioneer heritage with semiconductor money.

About Lehi
Also known as. A core city of 'Silicon Slopes,' Utah's tech corridor. Historically 'Utah's Pioneer City'. Sits at 'Point of the Mountain,' the ridge dividing Utah and Salt Lake valleys. Named after Lehi, a prophet in the Book of Mormon.
History. Mormon pioneers settled the site at Dry Creek in the fall of 1850; it was briefly renamed Evansville in 1851 after Bishop David Evans. Incorporated as Lehi City on February 5, 1852, making it the sixth city incorporated in Utah. The Utah legislature named it after Lehi, a prophet in the Book of Mormon. Lehi Roller Mills was founded in 1906 and became a downtown landmark, later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The downtown core is recognized as the Lehi Main Street Historic District on the National Register.
Local economy. A cornerstone of 'Silicon Slopes,' the Utah tech region branded by Domo founder Josh James. IM Flash Technologies, a Micron/Intel joint venture, made Lehi a flash-memory hub; by 2013 about 1 in every 14 flash memory chips worldwide was produced there. Adobe operates a major campus in Lehi with roughly 900 employees focused on its marketing/experience cloud. Ancestry.com moved its headquarters to Lehi in 2016; other major employers include Vivint, Oracle, DigiCert, and Microsoft. In 2023 Texas Instruments announced a roughly $11.5 billion 300mm semiconductor fabrication complex in Lehi, described as the largest single investment in Utah history, with capacity coming online in 2026. The city's original economy was agricultural, anchored by the Lehi Roller Mills flour operation.
Culture and community. The Lehi Round-Up Rodeo, held during the last full week of June (rodeo tradition dating to the late 1930s, with the grounds hosting rodeos since 1927), features parades, concerts, a pancake breakfast, and the beloved cheap 'Rodeo Burger' with its secret sauce. Thanksgiving Point, founded in 1995, is a huge nonprofit complex with the Museum of Ancient Life, gardens, Farm Country, and an annual Tulip Festival, drawing well over a million visitors a year. Lehi Roller Mills appeared in the 1984 film 'Footloose.' Notable people connected to Lehi include actor Wilford Brimley, PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau, and Old West figure Porter Rockwell.
What makes Lehi distinct. The U.S. Census Bureau has identified Lehi as near the mean center of population of Utah. It is a strikingly young city, with a median age around 26 and roughly 40% of residents under 18. Utah pioneer flour and modern flash-memory chips have both been signature Lehi exports. The town's flour mill starred in a Kevin Bacon movie about a place that banned dancing.
