Web Design for Littleton, Colorado

Littleton is a historic Denver suburb on the South Platte River, about nine miles south of the city and the seat of Arapahoe County. Born of the 1859 Pike's Peak gold rush and a pioneering flour mill, it grew from farm country into an aerospace and healthcare hub while preserving a walkable, turn-of-the-century Main Street. Today it pairs light-rail commuter convenience with riverfront parks, breweries and a famous summer street festival.

AppWT works with Littleton, CO businesses from Livonia, Michigan, mostly online and travelling as needed.

About Littleton

Also known as. The Little Town With a Big Heart.

History. Roots trace to the 1859 Pike's Peak gold rush, which drew merchants and farmers as well as miners to the South Platte valley. Named for Richard Sullivan Little, a New Hampshire hydraulic engineer who settled the area and platted the town. The Rough and Ready Flour Mill opened in 1867 and the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad arrived in 1871, spurring the village's growth. Incorporated as the Town of Littleton on March 13, 1890, with a population of about 245. Became the permanent county seat of Arapahoe County in 1904. Aerospace transformed the economy after World War II, with Martin Marietta building Titan rockets nearby and fueling a 1950s-70s housing boom.

Local economy. Largely agricultural until World War II, when war-materiel plants were built and later converted to aerospace production. Aerospace remains central, tied to the legacy of Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) Titan rocket work in the area. A strong healthcare sector anchors the city, including AdventHealth Littleton, the city's only hospital. Leading industries by employment include education and healthcare, professional services, and finance and insurance. Arapahoe Community College, established in 1972, added to the city's appeal for families and employers.

Culture and community. Western Welcome Week, a community celebration dating to the late 1920s, features dozens of events each August. The Audi Denver Littleton Twilight Criterium bike race runs a downtown circuit on the first Saturday in August with live bands and a beer garden. Breckenridge Brewery's Farm House sits beside the Platte River, where summer tubers float downstream to grab a beer. Downtown Main Street is lined with artisan boutiques, vintage shops and locally owned farm-to-table restaurants. The Town Hall Arts Center and the outdoor Aspen Grove shopping center with its Wednesday farmers market anchor local arts and retail life.

What makes Littleton distinct. The 1999 Columbine High School massacre is widely misattributed to Littleton because the school's 80123 ZIP code carries a Littleton mailing address, though the school actually lies in unincorporated Columbine. A real, flown SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket booster stands on display outside the DISH Network offices in town. Founder Richard Little was an engineer, not a miner, drawn to the area by irrigation and farming rather than gold. Its riverside brewery doubles as a float-trip finish line, with tubers dropped upstream to drift back for lunch. Despite being a Denver suburb, it is a distinct county seat with its own historic downtown and light-rail line.
