Web Design for O'Fallon, Missouri

O'Fallon is a fast-growing St. Charles County suburb about 30 miles northwest of St. Louis that ballooned from a sleepy railroad village of under 4,000 people in 1960 to more than 91,000 by 2020. Anchored by a restored War of 1812 fort and a July 4th festival that draws big-name free concerts, it blends deep frontier roots with modern corporate campuses like Mastercard.

AppWT works with O'Fallon, MO businesses from Livonia, Michigan, mostly online and travelling as needed.

About O'Fallon

Also known as. "Tradition with Vision" (official city motto). "O'Fallon, a Good Place to Live" (longtime civic slogan). Frequently described as St. Louis's most populous suburb.

History. Founded in 1856 by Nicholas Krekel and named by his older brother, Judge Arnold Krekel, after John O'Fallon, president of the North Missouri Railroad; a post office opened in 1859 with Nicholas Krekel as first postmaster. The area's settlement predates the town: Jacob Zumwalt and family settled around 1798 and built a large log home later fortified with a stockade during the War of 1812 to withstand guerrilla raids. Incorporated as a city on September 25, 1912. Experienced explosive growth from 1960 (about 3,770 residents) to 79,329 by 2010 and 91,316 at the 2020 Census, making it the 7th-most populous municipality in Missouri. The St. Mary's Institute was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Local economy. Mastercard maintains a major operations campus in O'Fallon, one of its largest technology and processing hubs. Air Evac Lifeteam, an air-medical helicopter service for the rural Ozarks, relocated its headquarters to O'Fallon in 2015. True Manufacturing (commercial refrigeration) occupies former Venture Stores facilities in the city. The city transformed from a small railroad town into a diversified economy of manufacturing, retail, and services after aggressive infrastructure investment beginning in the mid-1990s.

Culture and community. O'Fallon's Heritage & Freedom Fest, held around July 4th at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, features a parade, carnival midway, national headlining entertainment offered free of charge, and two nights of fireworks. From the late 1990s until 2019 the city hosted the River City Rascals, an independent Frontier League minor-league baseball team, at what is now CarShield Field. Fort Zumwalt Park hosts seasonal community traditions including autumn hayrides.

What makes O'Fallon distinct. O'Fallon is one of very few U.S. city pairs with identical names in the same metro area: O'Fallon, Illinois is also part of Greater St. Louis. Notable natives include WNBA star Napheesa Collier (2019 WNBA Rookie of the Year) and U.S. Men's National Team soccer players Tim Ream and Josh Sargent. The city's namesake, John O'Fallon, never lived in the town; he was a St. Louis financier and railroad president honored by the founder's brother.
