Web Design for Roseville, California
Roseville is the largest city in Placer County and a classic Northern California railroad town that grew up around a Central Pacific/Southern Pacific junction northeast of Sacramento. Once a gritty rail yard hub, it reinvented itself into a booming retail and healthcare suburb anchored by the second-largest mall in Northern California. It still runs on the rails, home to Union Pacific's massive J.R. Davis hump yard, while Kaiser and Sutter make it a regional medical center.

About Roseville
Also known as. The Junction (its original name, from the 1864 rail crossing). Roseville Junction. A railroad town / rail hub of the Sacramento Valley.
History. Roots trace to the aftermath of the Gold Rush, when discouraged miners took up farming along the creek bottoms of southwestern Placer County, forming the first families of the area. In 1864 a Central Pacific track-laying crew building the western half of the first transcontinental railroad crossed the California Central line linking Lincoln and Folsom, giving the spot the name 'Junction'; O.D. Lambard laid out a new town called Roseville on August 13, 1864. In 1906 the Southern Pacific moved its facilities from nearby Rocklin to Roseville, triggering rapid growth; the city formally incorporated in 1909. On April 28, 1973, the Roseville Yard Disaster struck: a Southern Pacific train of Vietnam-bound bombs from the Hawthorne, Nevada depot caught fire and exploded in a chain reaction lasting hours, injuring 348 people, forcing ~18,000 to evacuate Roseville and neighboring Antelope, and causing $23 million in damage with no official cause ever determined.
Local economy. Healthcare is the largest sector: Kaiser Permanente (~5,760 jobs) and Sutter Roseville Medical Center (~5,080 jobs) are the top two employers. Union Pacific's J.R. Davis Yard, a major hump yard, continues the city's founding railroad identity. Retail drives sales-tax revenue: the Westfield Galleria at Roseville is the second-largest shopping mall in Northern California, complemented by the open-air Fountains at Roseville and one of the largest auto malls in the country. TopGolf is another major employer (~1,970 jobs), reflecting a modern retail-and-entertainment economy.
Culture and community. Downtown Tuesday Nights on Vernon Street runs each summer (early June to late July): a free street fair with live bands, a classic car show, food trucks, farmers market, and kids' activities from 5-9 p.m. Vernon Street Town Square, created in a 1988-onward urban renewal push, is the civic and event heart of Old Town Roseville. Roseville Golfland SunSplash is a longtime local water park and amusement destination. Amtrak's Capitol Corridor stops in Roseville, keeping passenger rail part of daily life.
What makes Roseville distinct. In 1913 Roseville was home to what was billed as the world's largest ice manufacturing plant, built by the Pacific Fruit Express to ice refrigerated rail cars. The 1973 rail-yard bomb explosion was heard as far as 40 miles away, yet caused zero fatalities despite obliterating 18 boxcars. An EF0 tornado touched down in Roseville on March 26, 2014, a rarity for the region. Notable natives include Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders, actress Molly Ringwald, and NFL linebacker Tedy Bruschi.
