About Davisburg
History. Named for Cornelius Davis of Ulster County, New York, who settled the area in 1836; he and his sons John C. and James H. Davis platted the village in 1857. A post office was established at Davisburg in 1855. The Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad (later Canadian National) was built through the area in 1856, and its Davisburg station let local farmers ship produce and livestock to market.
Local economy. Agriculture was the historic economic mainstay, supported by rail shipping after the 1856 railroad line reached the community. Springfield Oaks County Park draws tourism to the community, with its 10-day Oakland County Fair attracting more than 100,000 visitors annually.

Springfield Oaks County Park, at 12451 Andersonville Road, is home to the historic 1884 Ellis Barn, a roughly 14,000-square-foot barn with an indoor riding arena and box stalls. The Oakland County Fair has been held each July at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg. The Michigan Antique Festival (Davisburg Antique Festival) is held at the Springfield Oaks fairgrounds.
What makes Davisburg distinct. The 1884 Ellis Barn was donated by former Detroit Tigers players Kirk Gibson and Tim Birtsas and moved from Dixie Highway to Springfield Oaks in 2005. Mill Pond Park is a 5.5-acre park on Davisburg Road in downtown Davisburg, set beside the Mill Pond and its dam. Springfield Township, which contains Davisburg, was named for the numerous natural springs in the area.
