History. First settled in 1842 by Eleazer Thurston. Named after Judge Norman Davison of Lapeer County, a delegate to Michigan's 1835 constitutional convention. The Chicago and Lake Huron Railroad (now Canadian National) completed its line through town in 1871, creating 'Davison Station.' Incorporated as a village on May 20, 1889. A fire on April 30, 1894 destroyed the downtown 'Rotten Row' section. Rosemoor Park hosted county fairs annually from 1919 to 1938 and featured a horse-racing track later turned into a subdivision. Incorporated as a city on December 5, 1938.

Local economy. A suburb of Flint, historically tied to the auto-industry economy of Genesee County. Operates its own municipal well-water system. Runs a council-manager form of government.
