Web Design for Lakeville, Minnesota
Lakeville is a fast-growing southern suburb of the Twin Cities and the largest city in Dakota County, sitting around Lake Marion roughly halfway on the old route between Saint Paul and Saint Peter. Once a milling and farming village, it now blends large-scale industry at Airlake Industrial Park with cornfields, lakes, and one of Minnesota's biggest youth hockey programs. Its identity is anchored by the July Pan-O-Prog festival, a celebration born out of the city's industrial boom.

About Lakeville
History. Founded in 1855 when Saint Paul lumber baron J. J. Brackett platted a townsite halfway between Saint Paul and Saint Peter on a lake he named Prairie Lake. Established as Lakeville Township in 1858; the community incorporated as a city in 1967. In 1910 Colonel Marion Savage built the Dan Patch Railroad Line (the Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester & Dubuque Electric Traction Co.) to serve his Antlers Amusement Park; the lake was later renamed Lake Marion, tied to Savage's fame from his champion pacing horse Dan Patch. Argonne Farms, a failed post-WWI veterans' settlement project, occupied land that was redeveloped into suburban retail in the 21st century.
Local economy. Post Consumer Brands (cereal maker) has been headquartered in Lakeville since 2015. Airlake Industrial Park spans about 1,500 acres and hosts roughly 200 companies employing around 4,500 workers. Served by Airlake Airport, a regional reliever airport. Large-scale farms producing corn, soybeans, and dairy remain in operation alongside the suburban growth. One of the fastest-growing cities in the Twin Cities area; 2020 population was 69,490, ninth-largest in Minnesota, with a 2023 median household income near $119,970.
Culture and community. Pan-O-Prog (Panorama of Progress) is the city's signature summer festival, held around July 4-12, running for six decades; it grew out of the success of Airlake Industrial Park and features fireworks, a grand parade, car show, street dances, and tournaments. Lakeville Hockey Association is one of Minnesota's largest youth hockey organizations, with nearly 1,000 members, and marches in the Pan-O-Prog parade. Home to two large high schools, Lakeville North and Lakeville South, whose sports rivalries anchor local identity.
What makes Lakeville distinct. The city and its central lake are tied to Dan Patch, the early-1900s record-setting pacing horse owned by Marion Savage; Savage built an electric railway partly to promote his enterprises. The Pan-O-Prog festival exists because of an industrial park, an unusual origin for a hometown summer celebration. Land that was once Argonne Farms, a collapsed veterans' resettlement scheme, became modern suburban shopping.
