Web Design for North Las Vegas, Nevada
North Las Vegas is a fast-growing Clark County city just north of the Las Vegas Strip, founded by a Utah libertarian who wanted a town free of Las Vegas's rules and taxes. Long defined by Nellis Air Force Base and its Thunderbirds, it has become one of Nevada's most ethnically diverse municipalities and a booming industrial and logistics hub anchored by the sprawling Apex Industrial Park. Its early years as a bootleggers' haven with speakeasy tunnels gave it a colorful frontier reputation.

About North Las Vegas
Also known as. Old Town (historic nickname). NLV.
History. In 1917, Thomas L. Williams of Eureka, Utah visited the Las Vegas Valley and disapproved of Las Vegas's rowdiness and municipal control. Williams founded his own town starting in 1919, building a home, sinking a well, grading roads, extending power lines, and digging irrigation ditches. Settled in the early 1920s and originally called Vegas Verde, it was renamed North Las Vegas in 1932. Because there was no local alcohol ban, the town attracted Prohibition-era bootleggers from Las Vegas and reportedly had a system of tunnels connecting underground speakeasies. North Las Vegas incorporated as an independent city in 1946.
Local economy. Major anchors include Nellis Air Force Base, the VA Medical Center, and Amazon fulfillment operations. The Apex Industrial Park is one of Nevada's fastest-growing employment zones, projected to create tens of thousands of jobs and billions in investment, with tenants such as Kroger, CarMax, DHL, Air Liquide, and Crocs/HEYDUDE. Advanced manufacturing, logistics/distribution, and warehousing drive much of the recent growth. Gaming and service industries remain part of the mix, alongside a large government/military employment base.
Culture and community. The most ethnically diverse municipality in Nevada, home to young families, seniors, and military personnel. Craig Ranch Regional Park Amphitheater (opened 2015) seats 8,000+ and hosts concerts, theater, and multi-day festivals. Aviation Nation air show at Nellis AFB (typically November) features the USAF Thunderbirds and draws 100,000+ visitors with free admission. Las Vegas Motor Speedway, about 15 miles north of the Strip, hosts NASCAR Cup, NHRA drag racing, and IndyCar events.
What makes North Las Vegas distinct. The city was literally born out of spite: its founder wanted a town free of Las Vegas's rules, alcohol enforcement, and taxes. Its 'Old Town' nickname stems from Prohibition-era speakeasy tunnels beneath the streets that sheltered bootleggers. The USAF Thunderbirds are based here, so precision jet formations overhead are a routine local sight. It sits directly adjacent to, but is fully independent from, the city of Las Vegas -- a separate incorporated city, not a neighborhood.
