Peachtree Corners is a planned suburban city in Gwinnett County northeast of Atlanta, the largest city in the county and one of the metro area's original technology hubs. Conceived in the late 1960s by developer Paul Duke around Technology Park Atlanta, it became a cradle of Southeastern tech--where Dennis Hayes and Dale Heatherington built the first PC modem. Today it markets itself as a living smart city, running Curiosity Lab, a real-world testbed with an autonomous-vehicle lane, 5G, and connected-vehicle technology.

About Peachtree Corners
Also known as. The Corners. PTC. Silicon Orchard (as heart of the metro-Atlanta "Silicon Orchard" tech cluster).
History. The area was originally the early-1800s farming community of Pinckneyville, which declined after the railroad bypassed it through Norcross in 1870. In 1967 developer Paul Duke launched planning for a master-planned community and Technology Park Atlanta, aiming to keep Georgia Tech and University of Georgia graduates in the region. Early Technology Park tenants included GE, Scientific Atlanta (later part of Cisco), and Hayes Microcomputer Products. Residents voted to incorporate on November 8, 2011, and the city officially began operations on July 1, 2012, becoming Gwinnett County's largest city with about 43,000 people.
Local economy. Over 2,300 businesses operate in the city, concentrated in engineering, logistics, health technology, and information technology. Major employers and corporate presences include Comcast's Southeast headquarters (relocated 2016), Intuitive Surgical (a $600 million expansion announced in 2021), Hapag-Lloyd, Amazon, CarMax, Honeywell, and Siemens. The Harlem Globetrotters and the USTA Southern Section are headquartered in the city. Peachtree Corners has historically funded municipal operations through business-license and franchise fees rather than a city property tax.
Culture and community. Annual community events include the Peachtree Corners Festival, a summer concert series, "Art on the Chattahoochee," and Holiday Glow. The Town Center, a roughly $103 million development, features an amphitheater, a pedestrian bridge, and a veterans monument as a walkable civic hub. The Forum is a prominent open-air shopping and dining destination. Notable people from the area include NFL center David Andrews, NBA guard Jodie Meeks, and actor Chandler Massey.
What makes Peachtree Corners distinct. The first PC modem was invented in Peachtree Corners' Technology Park by Georgia Tech graduate Dennis Hayes and partner Dale Heatherington. Curiosity Lab deployed what the city describes as the world's first fleet of shared e-scooters with teleoperated repositioning, plus an early roadway-surface solar panel system for EV charging. Simpsonwood Park and Jones Bridge Park served as filming locations for season 4 of Netflix's "Ozark," and a former warehouse store was used for the 2012 film "The Watch." The city promotes itself as among the first in the nation to offer citywide accessibility navigation with audio guidance for visually impaired pedestrians.
