Web Design for Springdale, Arkansas

Springdale sits on the Springfield Plateau in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, straddling Washington and Benton counties, and is the world headquarters of Tyson Foods, the planet's largest meat company. Built on poultry, it grew explosively into Arkansas's fourth-largest city and became home to the largest community of Marshall Islanders in the continental United States. Rodeo grandstands, an Ozark-history museum, and a minor-league ballpark round out a fast-growing, unusually multicultural small city.

AppWT works with Springdale, AR businesses from Livonia, Michigan, mostly online and travelling as needed.

About Springdale

Also known as. "Poultry Capital of the World" (a title officially recognized for the city by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe in 2013). "Chicken Capital". Originally named "Shiloh" before adopting the name Springdale.

History. The settlement was first known as Shiloh; it was platted in 1866 and incorporated as Springdale in 1878, with roots reaching back to the late 1830s-1840s. It lies on the Springfield Plateau in the Ozarks and straddles both Washington and Benton counties. Tyson Foods was founded in Springdale in 1935 by John W. Tyson, and the local poultry industry boomed, with production rising about 333% between 1935 and 1950. The 2020 census counted 84,161 residents, making Springdale the fourth-most-populous city in Arkansas; the city grew about 133% between the 1990 and 2010 censuses. Springdale anchors the larger Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area, which reached about 546,725 residents in 2020.

Local economy. Home to the world headquarters of Tyson Foods, the world's largest meat-producing company; Tyson employs roughly 4,300 people locally and more than 100,000 companywide. Other major employers include poultry company George's (about 2,500), Springdale Public Schools (about 2,235), and Cargill Meat Solutions (about 1,200). Springdale Public Schools is the largest school district in Arkansas, serving more than 23,000 students across roughly 29 campuses. The economy remains anchored in poultry and food processing, the industry that shaped the city's identity as the "Poultry Capital of the World."

Culture and community. Springdale is home to the largest concentration of Marshall Islanders in the continental United States, a community dating to the 1980s when workers arrived for Tyson Foods jobs; the Marshall Islands opened a consulate in the city in 2008. The Rodeo of the Ozarks, held around the July 4th holiday since 1944, is a 75-plus-year tradition and one of the top-ranked rodeos in the country, featuring events like bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, a parade, and kids' mutton bustin'. The Northwest Arkansas Naturals, a Double-A affiliate in the Texas League, play at Arvest Ballpark (about 6,500 seats). Cultural events include the Springdale Multicultural Festival, First Thursday Art Walks, and a year-round farmers market, reflecting Mexican, Marshallese, Southern barbecue, and classic American food traditions. Fiddler Jenee Fleenor, named CMA Musician of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021, is from Springdale.

What makes Springdale distinct. Springdale hosts a foreign consulate of the Marshall Islands (opened 2008), a rare distinction for an American city of its size, reflecting its status as the heart of the U.S. Marshallese community. Tyson Foods' corporate culture, shaped by longtime chief Don Tyson, famously included executive uniforms with name tags stitched into the shirts and the motto "grow or die." The city was originally named Shiloh before becoming Springdale. The Duggar family of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" is associated with the Springdale/Tontitown area of Northwest Arkansas.
