About Oak Park, Illinois

Oak Park is a leafy, architecturally famous village hugging Chicago's western border, home to the world's largest concentration of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway. Settled as 'Oak Ridge' in the 1830s and long a strait-laced dry town, it earned the nickname 'Saints' Rest' for the many churches built in the 1870s. Today it is known for its Prairie School landmarks, progressive politics and a nationally cited legacy of intentional racial integration.
