About Catonsville, Maryland

Catonsville is a census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland, on the western edge of Baltimore along Frederick Road, the old National Road. Founded around 1810 and named for English merchant Richard Caton, son-in-law of Declaration signer Charles Carroll of Carrollton, it grew as a streetcar suburb. In 2002 the state officially designated it "Music City, Maryland."
