About Belleville, Michigan
Belleville is a one-square-mile Wayne County city on the shore of Belleville Lake, completely encircled by Van Buren Township about 30 miles southwest of Detroit. Platted in 1847 and given the French name for 'beautiful town' in honor of landowner James Bell, it is known worldwide as the birthplace of Detroit techno, the home turf of the Belleville Three. Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh once kept summer cottages on its man-made lake.
