About Milford, Michigan
Milford is a village in Oakland County, Michigan, on the Huron River in the state's southeast. Elizur and Stanley Ruggles built the first sawmill in 1831, Milford Township organized in 1832, and the village incorporated in 1869. Water power from the river and Pettibone Creek ran roughly 14 mills. General Motors opened its Milford Proving Ground testing site nearby in 1924.
