About Romulus, Michigan
Romulus is a Wayne County city about 20 miles southwest of downtown Detroit, defined above all by Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, one of the nation's busiest hubs. Settled by French-Canadians in the 1820s and bearing a Roman name, it was an Underground Railroad stop before becoming a modern engine of logistics, manufacturing and e-commerce fulfillment. Its beloved fall Pumpkin Festival centers on a historical park with an 1839 one-room schoolhouse.
History of Romulus
- First white settler Samuel Polyne, a French-Canadian, arrived around 1826.
