From 1874 the lake and the land around it, bought by Ralph H. Lodge, were a well-known Akron-area amusement park.
The park once had animal exhibits, a roller coaster and a dance hall, and a miniature railway ran there from 1902 to 1917.
The village includes two lakes, Silver Lake and Crystal Lake, and is mostly surrounded by Stow and Cuyahoga Falls.
