More About Buda
Buda began along the International-Great Northern Railroad, which was extended from Austin to San Antonio in 1880.
The town was called Du Pre from 1881 until 1887, when postal officials found another Texas town with that name.
It sits about 15 miles southwest of downtown Austin on Interstate 35, and the Buda Lions Club holds wiener dog races there every April.
