Working in Grandville

• First settled in 1832-1833, with Luther Lincoln among the earliest settlers to claim land along the Grand River valley.
• Commonly understood to be named for its location on the Grand River.
• Held real strategic importance during Michigan's logging years because of its site at the 'river-bend' of the Grand River, where crews worked to keep logs from jamming as the river turned northwest toward Grand Haven.
• RiverTown Crossings Mall — West Michigan's largest enclosed shopping center, with 85-plus stores.
• The Grand River, forming the city's northern edge and its historic reason for being.
