About Genesee, Michigan

Genesee is an unincorporated community within Genesee Charter Township, just northeast of Flint at the intersection of Genesee and Stanley Roads near Mott Lake. Settled by pioneers in 1833 and originally called Geneseeville, the township took its name (via Genesee County, New York) from a Seneca word meaning Beautiful Valley. It is best known today for Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad, a living-history village and steam railroad along Mott Lake.
