Its historic downtown centers on the intersection of Pontiac Trail and 10 Mile Road, and its signature landmark is the 1909 'Witch's Hat' railroad depot, named for the conical roof on its operator's tower. • The surrounding township, and then the village, took the name Lyon after state legislator (and later U.S. senator) Lucius Lyon.
