Haverford Township is a home-rule township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, about eight miles west of Philadelphia, with roughly 50,000 residents. Welsh Quakers settled it in 1682 on land from William Penn's grant, naming it for Haverfordwest in Wales. Its largest community is Havertown, and it forms part of Philadelphia's Main Line commuter suburbs.

History of Haverford Township

• William Howell built the Haverford Mill, a gristmill, in 1685; the township stayed largely agricultural (wheat, oats, rye, corn, and dairy) into the early 20th century.

Haverford Township takes its name from Haverfordwest in Wales.

William Penn laid out the township as part of the Welsh Tract after a group of Welsh Quakers bought land there in 1681.

Cobbs Creek, Darby Creek, Naylors Run and Meadowbrook Run flow through the township, and the I-476 Blue Route runs along its western edge.

The Federal School, a stone schoolhouse on Darby Road at Coopertown, still stands.
