Specialty pharmacy systems: seven years where a slow approval delays a treatment

Healthcare buyers ask one question first: has anyone here worked inside a regulated health system? Tony Paris spent seven years doing exactly that, and this is what he built.

Starting point

Specialty pharmacy serves patients on oncology, fertility and autoimmune therapies. Insurance approval sits between the prescription and the patient, so every day an approval waits is a day a critical treatment waits.

What shipped

At Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, Tony Paris designed and implemented automated database systems for insurance approvals, and streamlined ticketing and workflow systems for medication fulfillment. He trained staff across departments on pharmacy administration systems and compliance protocols, and worked with providers and IT teams to integrate the tools.

The number

Insurance-approval turnaround cut from days to hours. Seven years in the role, 2010 to 2017, ending as Special Operations Advisor. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT, PTCB, June 2014).

Time to result

The source does not date the days-to-hours change within the 2010 to 2017 tenure, so this page does not claim a timeline for it.

What you can verify

The dates and duties are on Tony's published resume at aparis.us, and the CPhT is issued by PTCB. The work was done as an employee: Diplomat was his employer, not an AppWT client, and AppWT did not build Diplomat's website.

For a healthcare practice, that means a team that has worked under HIPAA from the inside: workflow automation, staff training and compliance protocols are part of the build, not an afterthought.
