I show how to build a reusable export kit for social images with artboards and file names. I include checks you can apply this week to keep posts consistent.
Why a social export kit
A social images export kit is a reusable set of artboards, naming rules and export presets that keep every post on brand. An artboard is a canvas inside your design file, and aspect ratio is the width to height shape.
I build it once, then anyone can produce new images fast. Before the kit I saw random sizes, cropped logos and fuzzy text. After the kit I see consistent shapes, clear logos and readable type.
Build the artboards
- Set master aspect ratios 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16, which cover square, portrait, landscape and vertical.
- Add safe area guides where app controls sit, so text and logos always remain visible. The safe area is the part not covered by interface elements.
- Save brand color swatches and gradients, so the exact palette repeats. Swatches are saved colors in your editor, and the palette is your approved set.
- Define text styles for heading, subhead and caption, so type stays consistent. Text styles are saved font settings.
- Place a logo component at approved corners with spacing, so alignment repeats. A component is a reusable element.
- Create templates for quotes, products, events, testimonials and before and after, so common posts start fast.
- Turn on a simple grid for spacing, so edges line up and images feel orderly.
Export and naming checks
- Use sRGB color for exports, the common screen color space for consistent display.
- Pick PNG for graphics with text and logos, and JPG for photo heavy images.
- Export at the intended display size in pixels, to avoid blur or rough scaling.
- Keep key text inside the safe area, so interface buttons do not cover it.
- Check contrast on a phone, and add a shape or adjust color if reading is hard.
- Name files with a clear pattern: brand_campaign_ratio_variant_v01.png, so sorting stays simple.
- Add a date when timing matters: brand_campaign_ratio_variant_2026-10-31.png, so files group in order.
- Export light and dark logo versions when needed, so marks stay legible on any background.
- Keep a thumbnail sheet of all variants on one artboard, to spot misses before posting.
- Store the source file and exports in one project folder, so future updates stay simple.
