I built a product page for a specialty manufacturer using AI drafts and strict human review. I share the steps, guardrails, and what I learned so you can try it.
AI sped up a product page build by drafting repeatable sections that I edited and approved. The project was a new product page for a specialty manufacturer with a short deadline.
The situation
The client had a spec sheet, a brand guide, and a few existing pages to match. They needed clear copy, images with captions, and a page that fit existing navigation and design.
Constraints
I could only use claims found in the spec or provided in writing. The page had to keep the brand voice, follow basic accessibility, and include structured data for search. Subject matter experts had very limited time, so my process had to minimize their review load.
My approach
I used AI for first drafts and kept humans in control of facts and tone. Here is the workflow that worked.
- Gather inputs into one brief. I pulled the spec, approved phrases, internal links, and image list into a single document.
- Ask AI for an outline and section headings in plain language. I aimed for scannable blocks like features, use cases, and FAQs.
- Have AI draft each section with a note that all facts need verification. I also asked for alt text options for each image.
- Request several meta title and description options tied to the main search intent. I picked the best fit and rewrote it in my voice.
- Generate Product structured data for review. I used JSON-LD, which is a machine readable format for structured data.
- Edit hard. I removed fluff, trimmed repeated phrases, and rewrote benefits to match the brand guide.
Checks before publish
- Verify every factual statement against the spec or written client input. If I could not confirm it, I cut it.
- Search a few exact sentences in quotes to check originality. I avoided phrases that looked common.
- Read the page aloud to test clarity and tone. I fixed any awkward spots.
- Add descriptive alt text and clear headings. I checked contrast and link clarity.
- Validate structured data in the Rich Results Test, then request indexing in Google Search Console.
- After launch, review AppWT Analytics to see AI referrals and crawler activity.
What I learned
AI excels at speed and variation, and humans own accuracy and voice. A simple rule worked well. AI drafts, I verify, then I publish. Reusing the brief and approved phrases made the next page faster too.
