I walk you through adding schema to your homepage, service pages, and product pages. You will copy ready to adapt JSON-LD and a short checklist to confirm it is working.
I show you how to add schema to your homepage, service pages, and product pages. Schema is structured data that follows the schema.org vocabulary. I use JSON-LD, which is JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data, because it is easy to add and maintain.
Organization schema
- Put Organization schema on your homepage and contact page.
- Collect legal name, website address, logo file address, and a public phone number.
- Example JSON-LD you can adapt: { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Organization", "name": "Your Business", "url": "https://appwt.com", "logo": "https://appwt.com/your-logo.png", "contactPoint": { "@type": "ContactPoint", "telephone": "+1-000-000-0000", "contactType": "customer service" } }
- Add it as a JSON-LD script in the head or near the end of the body.
Service schema
- Use Service schema on each service detail page.
- Include the service name, a short description, and areaServed if it applies.
- Example JSON-LD: { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Service", "name": "Website Care", "description": "Monthly updates and monitoring.", "areaServed": "Online", "provider": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Your Business" } }
- Keep the wording in the schema the same as the words a visitor can see on the page.
Product schema
- Use Product schema on each product page.
- Include name, description, sku, and brand if you have one.
- Example JSON-LD: { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Product", "name": "Blue Cotton T Shirt", "description": "Short sleeve cotton shirt.", "sku": "TSHIRT-001", "brand": { "@type": "Brand", "name": "Your Brand" } }
- If you later add offers or reviews, include only details that appear on the page.
What to check
- Run a structured data test tool and confirm no errors you did not expect.
- Confirm there is only one primary type per page, for example Service on a service page.
- Make sure names, descriptions, phone numbers, and SKUs match the visible content.
- Avoid duplicate schema from themes or plugins by disabling one source.
- Recheck after any content change or redesign.
If you want help, I add and maintain this markup through my Schema & Structured Data service.
