I share a simple internal linking method that helps real visitors, not bots. You will fix anchors and add paths in minutes.
Why this matters
Internal linking that helps visitors uses clear anchor text and planned paths between related pages. It reduces confusion and guides people to the next step they actually want to take. It also gives search engines useful context, but I focus on real readers first always.
Simple steps
Pick one high traffic page, such as your homepage or a top service page today. Ask what most visitors need next from here, like details, booking, pricing, or contact information. Choose one or two target pages that answer that need with clear, specific information today.
- Add a short sentence near the decision point with one clear link, such as Schedule a roof inspection or See lawn care plans.
- Place one or two contextual links inside relevant paragraphs, not in a random list at the bottom.
- Match the anchor text to the destination page title or first heading so expectations line up.
- Avoid vague anchors like Click here or Learn more, and make them specific, such as Learn more about deck repair.
- Do not point the same anchor to different destinations because each phrase should map to one topic.
- Link up from child pages to parent pages, and across to related siblings where it helps a task.
- Make the entire meaningful phrase the link, not a single word, which improves tap targets on phones.
Quick checks
Scan the page, then read only the links out loud without any surrounding text today. Do they tell a simple story and lead to a clear action that makes sense to a new visitor. If not, trim extras, rewrite the weakest anchors, and remove any link that distracts from the main task.
Open the page on your phone and slowly tap each link like a first time visitor. Does each tap take you to the page you expected from the words you tapped. If not, fix the wording or change the destination so the promise and the page match.
How I can help
I can tune internal links during Website Updates or as part of Maintenance Plans, and I teach this in SEO Training. I also use AppWT Analytics to see what visitors do, then I refine paths that match real behavior.
