We Know Clio
Clio businesses serve a close-knit community that shops local. Vienna Road is the main commercial strip. The Clio Area School District is a community anchor. Nearby I-75 access brings pass-through traffic.
Clio was first called Varna and took its present name in the 1860s, after the railroad arrived, honoring Clio, the Greek muse of history. It was platted and organized as a village in 1873 and became a city in 1928. The city sits entirely inside Vienna Township but governs itself, on about 1.1 square miles of land. The 1873 railroad depot, on the National Register since 1983, now holds the local history museum, and National Hugging Day was first celebrated from Clio in 1986.
